a sisterhood based on unity, love & respect
Our Legacy Began In 1975
The year 1975 saw the birth of what started as a vision – an idea of an organization, a sisterhood that would cater to the needs of Latinas and, more importantly, the universal woman. Thanks to the tremendous strides made by our 17 founding mothers, this dream was realized, and took form as the entity: Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated, the first Latina sorority in the nation.
ROOTED IN OUR PURPOSE
The purpose of Lambda Theta Alpha shall be to provide a sisterhood based on unity, love and respect in an effort to foster the development of strong leaders who will then provide and practice political, social and cultural activities. It shall also be the purpose of Lambda Theta Alpha to promote unity through charitable and educational programs, maintain a higher standard of learning and serve as a voice for all students.

A TRUE SISTERHOOD AT UA
At the University of Arizona, our legacy started with out our Founding Line - The Passionate and Elegant Doce Damas del Desierto who established our chapter on April 17, 2010. Since that time, we have seen 100 members become initiated members of our sisterhood through Epsilon Kappa Chapter. Today, we continue to serve our university community, excel academically by supporting one another and have access to mentorship and professional resources due to our international network of distinguished alumnae. We aspire to continue raising the standard for Latina women in education and paving the way for others.
